Starting Nihonga

This section introduces the fundamental knowledge required to start making Nihonga. As well as introducing our pigment, we have prepared videos introducing techniques such as kneading pigment and nikawa (a hide glue solution).

This section covers the types of Nihonga pigment we manufacture and particle grades of Iwa enogu.

Nakagawa has made gofun for more than a century since our founding in 1897, and over this time we have cultivated many uncompromising approaches to pigment manufacturing, which we introduce here.
